Mount Everest has captivated intrepid men and women
since the 1920s. The exploits of legends such as George Mallory, Sir
Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay put the mighty mountain on the map;
thousands have followed, making huge sacrifices – many with their lives –
in their own attempts to the summit. Trekking in Nepal is an adventure and you shouldn’t miss a chance to experience this adventure first hand.
Everest’s
daunting summit soars so high that trekking to its base camp (17,590')
is still an adventure of the highest sort. Join us on a 16-20 days
Himalayan trek to Everest’s Southern Face Base Camp through some of the
world’s most spectacular mountain scenery. Spend two days discovering
the historic treasures of Kathmandu. Stay in villages set against
soaring, jagged pinnacles; get to know the unique culture of the
Sherpas; and walk trails lined with mani stones, engraved with Tibetan
Buddhist prayers. Discover remote mountain monasteries and learn about
the Sherpas’ spiritual perspective on the mountains they call home.

Alternate Routes for Everest Base Camp Trekking:
•
Although the Everest Base Camp Trek is the most well-known of all the
treks in Nepal, there are other alternative treks that you can take. A
popular choice is the shorter Everest Panorama Trek which can be
completed in 8 days. You will get to see Mount Everest and the
surrounding peaks but the Base Camp itself is not part of this trekking
route.
•
Another option is the Gokyo Trek which takes 12 days to complete and
offers views of Everest and nearby peaks, Gokyo Lake and the longest
glacier in Nepal - Ngozumpa Glacier. You also have the option to combine
the Everest Base Camp Trek with the Gokyo Trek for a 15-day trip.
Safety considerations for your Everest Base Camp trek:
•
This is a high altitude trek and therefore careful acclimatization is
needed. Acclimatization days are required during the trek to avoid
altitude sickness.
• Temperatures regularly drop
below freezing around EBC during early spring, late autumn and winter.
Please ensure that you have the proper gear and clothing for the time of
